So boo, now they are not on the side of conservation. If they find them, I suppose they will then harvest that seaweed, possibly in a sustainable way, possibly not. Yay! But the biologists are analyzing seaweed samples in the hope of finding valuable medicinal properties. On their side are biologists who are taking seaweed samples. Just one example: a group of conservationists are fighting against pollution being discharged into the ocean as it is degrading the marine wildlife and habitat. So much in here that is fuel for fascinating discussions. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to get their heads around the logistics of conservation. As a few of his case studies illustrate, oddly, they are not always on opposing sides. I am sure it could be used as a blueprint for any commercial vs conservation case. This is a book that goes into great depth about the complex and overlapping issues of various fishing interests, conservation efforts and what it would mean to fish in an environmentally sustainable way. This is a long book but filled with many case studies, observations and vivid descriptions of Carl's experiences.
